Malang – The World Forum for Inclusive Education (WFIEd) organized a Multi-Stakeholder Strategic Mapping Forum entitled “Mapping Emerging Technologies for Advanced Responsible and Gender-Inclusive Sustainable Development” on February 12, 2026. The forum was conducted in a hybrid format at Universitas Negeri Malang, with support from Research Institute and Community Engagement (LPPM) Universitas Negeri Malang.

The activity was designed as a focused group discussion (FGD) involving selected experts and researchers from various countries in the Asian region. Participants included:

  1. Prof. Dr. Dustnazar Omonovich Khimmataliev from Chirchik State Pedagogical University, Uzbekistan
  2. Dr. Fatma Demir Zengin from Ministry of National Education, Türkiye.
  3. Prof. Dr. Priyanka Singh from Amity University Uttar Pradesh, India.
  4. Mohammad Idrees Naeemy, M.D., Ph.D from University of Tsukuba, Japan.
  5. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hanafi Mohd Yasin from INTI International University, Malaysia.
  6. Dr. Tri Wahyu Hardaningrum from Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia.

The forum aimed to explore the role of emerging technologies in promoting responsible, inclusive, and gender-sensitive sustainable development, particularly in the fields of education and social development across Asia. Through cross-country discussions, participants shared regional experiences, policy perspectives, and best practices related to digital innovation and inclusive education.

By adopting a hybrid format, the forum enabled active participation from both on-site and online attendees. The discussions included short presentations, thematic exchanges, and collaborative sessions to identify key challenges and opportunities in each national context. This interactive format encouraged in-depth dialogue and mutual learning among participants

As part of a larger collaborative research project with the ATPS Network Africa, the forum contributed to the collection of preliminary data focusing on Asian countries. It also produced an initial mapping of strategic issues related to technology and inclusion, as well as early recommendations for developing research instruments and international survey frameworks.

The findings from this forum will serve as an important foundation for the next stages of the collaborative research. The research team will continue data collection through surveys in the Asian region, conduct comparative analyses, and follow the agreed research timeline with ATPS Network Africa. The project is expected to result in academic publications and policy recommendations that support equitable and inclusive technological development.

Through this initiative, Universitas Negeri Malang, together with WFIEd and international partners, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening research collaboration in Asia and advancing inclusive and sustainable education in the digital era.
